Are you ready to Spark a Reaction? The Summer Reading Challenge has officially begun and the teen theme is Spark a Reaction. For those who have participated in the past you were required to read 20 minutes a day for six weeks. At the end of the challenge you earned coupons, a book, and a ticket for the grand prize drawing. That is all about to change.
This year to complete the challenge, you will be required to read or listen to six books and write a book review for each book finished. There is no requirement for book genre, but select books appropriate for your reading level. The books reviews are simple, so do not fret. Check it out by clicking here. A paper or digital review submitted each week enters you into a weekly drawing. The more books you read the better your chances of winning a weekly drawing. In addition, if 200 or more books are read between all three libraries you will earn a popsicle party.
Besides the reading we are hosting summer teen events. The events include Dr. Who, Harry Potter Potions Class, Frankenstein Meets Willy Wonka, Skin Sense, The Game is Afoot, Water Day, Storm Chasers, Star Wars Versus Trekkies, and so much more.
Explore the Spark a Reaction page for further information, to register, and to submit your book reviews.
The first event, Mr. Molecule, will be on Wednesday, June 11. The times for each location are 2:30 at Hicksville, 4:30 at Sherwood, and 6:30 at Defiance.
See you there!

"The teen section is cool, because if you are bored you can play the XBox or board games. If you feel like reading they have great books-mystery, action, anime, etc."
